Street Democracy advised partners on how the state could join the program after pandemic restrictions blocked SNAP recipients from delivery.
Early in the pandemic, people on food stamps weren't able to use their benefits for delivery of groceries because the USDA didn't allow accounts to be charged for food delivery. We advised partner organizations that the Governor would need to request to join a USDA pilot program that allows online delivery. On May 20, Michigan was added to the pilot program.
